DISCLAIMER

I refer you to the last entry by ms Koh, this is to clarify that that was not a planned choir outing. It was merely a gathering of colleagues, friends and students. And it so happens that 3 of the students are from the choir. Also, the primary objective was to watch Narnia, what happened after the movie was all impromptu. So to those choir members who felt cheated or left out, that was not an official outing and we did not mean to be exclusive. We decided on it last minute and whoever can make it just went. Please rest assured that we'll be looking into organising a PROPER choir outing which EVERYBODY will be asked to participate. Probably will take place after the new sec one recruits are properly settled in, so expect it to be in the March holidays. Thank you and Happy New Year!

OUTING!

Shawn, Jaime, Samaria, Mr Goh and I went to watch Narnia this afternoon, accompanied by Royston, who has nothing to do with the choir, but who is fun company, and Mr Chen, the one responsible for rewriting the lyrics of our school song.

Narnia is good! Remember not to walk out of the theatre when the movie credits start rolling... there's a little bit of a surprise 2 minutes into it.

After the movie, we got went for elaborate chinese tea near Chinatown.

Royston has never seen a teapot in his life - it was a very exciting day for him.

Drinking tea makes you smile LIKE THIS! *grin*

Oh ok, fine...

Then, in oriental jubilation, we walked through chinatown and went for a rather good dim sum for dinner... Shawn and Royston, you missed all the delicious food! Awwww!

After dinner, we found rain outside! We wondered what to do with ourselves... we thought and thought and thought...

DSC00382

And then an epiphany!!! We somehow came upon the ludicrious decision to take the longest possible train ride and ended up in Boon Lay.

And we rode and rode until at long last, we arrived at Jurong Point, which seemed to be on practically a different country from Serangoon Gardens.

Corcovado

corcovado

In case you're wondering what the Corcovado is, its that statue in the foreground of this photo. This is Rio de Janerio in Brazil (I think!). So Mr Goh must call himself 'corcovado' because he always has his arms outstretched when he conducts the choir.

Psst! We should kidnap Mr Goh in Ms Leow's car and take him to the top of Mount Faber and get him to stand in the same position as that corcovado...

School Website...

I need to put together a webpage for "Voices In The Garden" that will appear with the other CCAs in the listings - so that the new Sec 1's will see what wonderful, gorgeous, fun people the choir is and will sell their souls to us for 4/5 years. We intend to recruit 40 new choir members (new exotic flowers) from the new Sec 1 cohort, so the "Voices In The Garden" can bloom... then we can soon start our alumni choir with our old blossoms, which we can call "Echoes from the Backyard". Mr Goh, our head gardener, will be tending to the plants to make them bloom. We will also be removing the weeds that prevent our fragile flowers from growing, so that the garden can win awards and attract people from all over the world to see it. I will be linking this blog from that website so you may have curious people dropping in.

I need photos/info etc on what the choir has been doing... I've only known this group since July 2005 and there's 1 and a 1/2 years of valuable history that's missing. Update me! You can drop me an email at amandakoh at gmail dot com. Please do it soon, because I intend to get the website up and running by NEXT WEEK (that means, before christmas).

And WHERE'S THE LOGO?!?!!! Aiya... you all arh! *bish*

Back from Africa

006

Hi everyone! I'm back from South Africa.

Have put up some photographs... click HERE to view them as a slideshow. There are 3400 photos in all, so this is just a little glimpse at the lot.

I hope everyone's been fine and I'll see all of you at the next practice after Christmas. Am glad that Mr Goh is back in civilization and that all is well and good in our world.

December Holidays

Hi all,

Glad to be back in civilisation. Here's a note for y'all.
PLEASE MARK YOUR DIARIES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
Tues 27 Dec 8am-12nn
Fri 30 Dec 1pm-5pm

These are the last 2 practices in year 2005 in preparation for January 2006 Sec One Orientation performance.

Attendance is COMPULSORY. Absence without medical certificate or letter of excuse signed by parents will be treated as TRUANCY and will warrant disciplinary action which may lead to your expulsion from choir.

If you haven't received a consent form or any notification on the above mentioned dates, that's because you have been missing from practice for too long. Please find out from friends what you've missed, and friends, please help to PASS down information to those who are not around. Communication is always very lacking and information gap is perpetually present. I hope this situation will improve in the new year.

Having said all that. Happy Holidays, enjoy whatever's left of your December hols, go out, play, eat, watch movie, have fun, be merry and take care of yourselves. I would like to see u in one piece. MERI KURISUMASU!

-your conductor
